Year Released

2016 - Debuted in September as part of the blind-bag Series 16 (71013). This era marked a peak for 'costume-themed' minifigures within the CMF line.

Rarity

Uncommon - Not rare in terms of total production, but highly sought after as a fan-favorite 'meme' figure. Distribution was even across boxes of 60, making it easier to pull than 'rare' chase figures of the time.

Head

Yellow head with sunglasses (aviator style) and a wide, confident grin. The head is single-sided due to the cutout in the banana suit which would expose a second face.

Torso

Bright Green torso with simple printing; features short sleeves to transition to yellow hands. The chest print is often obscured by the banana suit.

Legs

Medium Azure blue plain legs without printing. These represent pants worn under the costume.

Accessories

Large yellow banana suit mold (Part 25368) which fits over the torso and head. The suit features a black stem at the top and a small blue and white logo on the front parodying real-world fruit stickers.

Color Scheme

Primary Yellow (banana), Bright Green (shirt), Medium Azure (pants), and black/white accents for the face and logo.

Printing Details

High-quality pad printing. The standout detail is the 'fruit sticker' on the banana suit, which is a rare instance of printing on a large costume accessory piece. The alignment is typically centered through the suit's vertical axis.

Variants

This is the original version. A later 'Party Banana' variant (col337) was released in 2018 with a different shirt/sunglasses combo and a '10' logo on the suit.

Condition Notes

The banana suit is prone to scratches and paint wear on the black tip. Check for stress marks on the green arms and ensuring the sunglasses print on the head hasn't faded from friction within the suit.

Estimated Value

Used: $5 - $8 USD; New (Sealed in bag): $12 - $18 USD. Values fluctuate based on the popularity of food-costume collectors.

Price (New)

$3.99 USD (Original MSRP for Series 16 blind bags).

Compatible Sets

71013 LEGO Minifigures Series 16; also featured conceptually in The LEGO Batman Movie and LEGO video games.

Character Background

A generic character characterized by his enthusiasm for fruit-themed costumes. He became an internet sensation in the LEGO community, often used in stop-motion and photography due to his 'cool' sunglasses and absurd outfit.

Design Notes

The banana suit was a brand-new mold in 2016. It was designed to let the minifigure's arms move relatively freely while completely encasing the torso and head. The cutout is perfectly sized for the standard minifigure face.

Similar Minifigures

Hot Dog Man (col13), Corn Cob Guy (col294), Watermelon Dude (col342), and Pea Pod Girl (col355).

Collectibility

High - He is considered one of the 'quintessential' Collectible Minifigures. Collectors of food-costume figures consider him the cornerstone of that sub-collection.

History

Follows the legacy of the Gorilla Suit Guy and Hot Dog Man. This figure's popularity led LEGO to create several other fruit and vegetable suits in subsequent CMF series.

Interesting Facts

The sticker on his chest says 'Tropical' in a stylized font that mimics the Chiquita banana logo. This is one of the few figures where the accessory is the primary reason for purchase rather than the figure underneath.

Display Suggestions

Ideal for a kitchen-themed MOC, a crowded beach scene, or a dedicated food-costume display case. Looks best when placed next to Hot Dog Man and Corn Cob Guy.

Modification Potential

The banana suit is a popular piece for 'purist customs.' It can be placed on almost any character (e.g., Banana Batman or Banana Trooper) for comedic effect.

Overall Assessment

9/10 - A legendary LEGO minifigure. Excellent design, funny character concept, and high play/display value. A must-have for any collector of the CMF line.
