Clone Commander Cody (Phase 2)

Figure ID

sw1223

Theme

Star Wars

Year Released

2022 (Debuted in the LEGO Star Wars AT-TE Walker set 75337)

Rarity

Uncommon to Rare. While the set was widely available, this version of Cody was highly anticipated for over a decade, making it a high-demand figure that is currently exclusive to a single high-priced set.

Head

Standard 'Nougat' flesh-toned Clone Trooper head with a determined expression used in modern sets. It features a Phase II helmet with specific 212th Battalion orange markings and a unique orange visor accessory attached to the side holes.

Torso

White torso with highly detailed 212th Battalion orange and grey armor plating. Features include a printed jetpack on the back, utility belt details, and orange arms with black hands.

Legs

White legs with extensive printing including orange knee pads, 212th Battalion markings, and toe/foot highlighting. The hip piece is white with printed belt continuation.

Accessories

Includes an orange visor/sunshade attached to the helmet and a medium-sized black blaster (DC-15S blaster carbine).

Color Scheme

Primary white and orange with grey and black accents. The orange is the vibrant shade associated with the 212th Attack Battalion.

Printing Details

High-fidelity pad printing on the helmet, torso (front and back), and legs. This version is notable for its exceptional detail, including the 'breather' vents on the helmet and the battle-worn scuffs in the orange paint.

Variants

This is the first Phase 2 Commander Cody ever produced by LEGO. It differs significantly from the Phase 1 version (sw0196) which lacked leg printing and used an older helmet mold.

Condition Notes

Watch for stress marks on the helmet holes where the visor attaches. The orange arm printing is prone to minor scratching if played with heavily. Ensure the visor is the correct LEGO part and not a third-party replica.

Character Background

CC-2224, known as Cody, was a lead clone commander in the Grand Army of the Republic. He famously served under Obi-Wan Kenobi and led the 212th Attack Battalion during the Clone Wars before executing Order 66.

Design Notes

LEGO utilized the newer 2020 clone trooper body style but added holes to the side of the helmet to accommodate the visor, a design choice that was controversial among some 'purist' collectors but praised for functionality.

Similar Minifigures

212th Attack Battalion Trooper (sw1224), Captain Rex (Phase 2), Commander Wolffe, and Phase 1 Commander Cody.

Collectibility

Extremely high. This was the most requested Star Wars minifigure for several years prior to its release. Its value is expected to rise significantly once set 75337 is retired.

History

For over 15 years, fans only had the 2008 Phase 1 version. This 2022 release marked a milestone in completing the 'holy grail' list of Phase 2 Clone Commanders.

Interesting Facts

The printing on the helmet includes a small grey 'light' on the side, a detail rarely captured in LEGO scale but accurate to the Revenge of the Sith film model.

Display Suggestions

Display alongside Obi-Wan Kenobi and the 212th Clone Troopers on the AT-TE. Use a clear acrylic stand to highlight the back printing of the jetpack.

Modification Potential

Excellent for 'weathering' MOCs. Many fans swap the visor for custom fabric 'kamas' or pauldrons to increase the 'Ultimate Collector Series' feel.

Overall Assessment

A top-tier LEGO Star Wars minifigure. It represents a perfect blend of fan demand, high-quality printing, and character significance. A must-have for any serious Star Wars collector.
