Evil Robot - Series 6

Figure ID

col083

Theme

Collectible Minifigures

Year Released

2012 (January release, during the early golden era of the Collectible Minifigure line)

Rarity

Uncommon. While not as rare as a convention exclusive, Series 6 was released over a decade ago and was sold in blind bags, making it harder to find in pristine condition today compared to modern sets.

Head

Yellow classic skin tone with a detailed 'cyborg' print. One half of the face features a metallic silver robotic plate with two glowing yellow optical sensors, a small red light on the forehead, and a jagged black mouth showing gritted teeth. The reverse is typically blank as it was intended to be worn with a helmet piece.

Torso

Sand Green with black and silver mechanical detail printing including chest plating and a power core. The arms are metallic silver; the hands are black.

Legs

Sand Green with printing continuing the mechanical plating and circuity seen on the torso. Includes black hip joints.

Accessories

A large metallic silver 'Robot-Style' helmet with an open faceplate area to reveal the head printing. A flat silver laser pistol weapon.

Color Scheme

Sand Green, Metallic Silver, Yellow, and Black. This is a classic 'retro-futuristic' sci-fi color palette.

Printing Details

High-quality pad printing. The head features fine metallic ink and crisp lines around the optical sensors. Leg printing was fairly advanced for 2012, covering the front of the shin and thigh.

Variants

None for this specific series, though the 'Clockwork Robot' (Series 6) and 'Robot' (Series 1) share design DNA.

Condition Notes

Look for silver paint wear on the head piece and helmet. The metallic ink on the head is prone to scratching if stored loosely with other parts. Check the arm joints for small cracks.

Estimated Value

The full minifigure is valued at approximately $8.00 - $12.00 USD used, and $15.00+ for a sealed bag version. The head piece alone (shown in image) is worth roughly $2.00 - $3.00 USD.

Price (New)

Original blind bag retail price was $2.99 USD in 2012.

Character Background

The 'Evil Robot' is the villainous counterpart to the Series 1 Robot. He is depicted as a mass-produced mechanical soldier designed for planetary conquest with a glitch that makes him particularly cranky.

Design Notes

This head print was a major step up in detail for the time, using multiple colors (silver, yellow, red, black) on a single surface. The metallic silver arms were a relatively premium inclusion for the CMF line.

Similar Minifigures

Series 1 Robot (col008), Series 8 Evil Robot (different design), Series 11 Barbarian (for the angry expression), and various Space-themed cyborgs.

Collectibility

High among CMF completionists. It represents a significant point in LEGO history when the CMF line began introducing more complex character archetypes and detailed prints.

History

Released as part of the 16-character Series 6 wave. It signaled a move away from generic characters toward more specific archetypes within the Space and Sci-Fi sub-genres.

Interesting Facts

Despite being labeled 'Evil,' fans often use this head in MOCs (My Own Creations) for scrap-yard robots or damaged androids because the expression is more comical than truly menacing.

Display Suggestions

Display in a tiered CMF display case or alongside and army of its 'brother' robots in a classic LEGO Space hangar scene. Use cool blue LED lighting to make the metallic silver parts pop.

Modification Potential

Excellent for 'cyberpunk' theme MOCs. The head is frequently used by customizers to create 'Terminator' style figures or futuristic bounty hunters.

Overall Assessment

An iconic piece of the original CMF run. While the image only shows the head, this part is the 'soul' of one of the cooler sci-fi figures of its era. 8/10 for design and personality.
