Drax (Guardians of the Galaxy)
sh120 · Marvel Super Heroes
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1 · 2014

Figure ID
sh120
Theme
Marvel Super Heroes
Year Released
2014
Rarity
Uncommon to Rare. Appearing in only one retail set during the initial film release, it has become increasingly difficult to find in pristine condition due to the intricate arm printing.
Head
Light Bluish Gray with red tattoo markings on the back and front. Features a stern, aggressive expression in the front (not visible in image) and continues the intricate red line-work associated with the character's body art.
Torso
Light Bluish Gray with intricate Red and dark gray tattoo/scar patterns. This specific version features high-detail printing on the front, back, and both arms, mimicking the character's cinematic appearance.
Legs
Dark Blue (Navy) legs with no printing. This distinguishes it from later versions like sh387 which featured printed boots and details.
Accessories
Originally packaged with two silver daggers (sai-style blades). This specific figure in the image is missing accessories and headgear/hair (though Drax is bald).
Color Scheme
The primary colors are Light Bluish Gray for the skin/base and Dark Blue for the trousers, with significant Red ink utilized for the body-wide tattoo detailing.
Printing Details
Exceptional for 2014. It features wraparound arm printing which was rare for Marvel figures at the time, and high-density pad printing on the torso back and head.
Variants
There are several: sh120 (this one), sh387 (Vol. 2 with printed legs and jetpack), sh508 (Infinity War with different pants color), and the Comic Book version from the SDCC exclusive or San Diego Comic-Con context.
Condition Notes
The light gray plastic is prone to 'flea bites' or nicks. Arm printing is often the first to wear due to play. Check for torso cracks under the arms and wear on the head-to-torso friction point.
Estimated Value
Used (Complete with knives): $25-$35 USD; Used (Incomplete/Figure only as pictured): $18-$22 USD; New: $45-$55 USD.
Price (New)
Included in set 76021 (The Milano Spaceship Rescue) which retailed for $74.99 USD in 2014.
Compatible Sets
76021 The Milano Spaceship Rescue (2014).
Character Background
Drax the Destroyer, portrayed by Dave Bautista in the MCU. A warrior seeking vengeance for his family, known for his literal-mindedness and immense strength.
Design Notes
LEGO chose to use a standard minifigure head instead of a molded piece, relying on printing to convey his scars. The red printing is layered to give a slightly raised, textured feel mimicking the character's scars.
Similar Minifigures
Gamora (sh119), Star-Lord (sh128), and Rocket Raccoon (sh122) from the same 2014 wave.
Collectibility
High. While newer versions of Drax exist, collectors often prefer sh120 for its more accurate light gray skin tone compared to the more 'yellow-green' or 'sand green' hues used later.
History
This was the first-ever Drax minifigure produced by LEGO, debuting to coincide with the August 2014 release of the first Guardians of the Galaxy film.
Interesting Facts
The tattoo pattern on the back of the torso actually contains very small geometric shapes that, when viewed under a magnifying glass, show incredible consistency for mass production.
Display Suggestions
Best displayed with the regular 2014 Guardians crew in a 'Milano' cockpit MOC. Use a transparent stand to mimic his leaping combat style.
Modification Potential
Commonly used for MOCs of other muscular or tattooed characters; the arms are highly sought after by customizers for various 'barbarian' style figures.
Overall Assessment
A standout Marvel figure from the mid-2010s. The arm printing makes it a 'premium' minifigure from that era. As shown in the image (incomplete), it remains a solid base for a restoration project.
