Figure ID
njo541
Theme
Ninjago
Year Released
2019 - Released alongside the Fire Chapter wave following the Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu television transition to the shorter 11-minute format.
Rarity
Uncommon to Rare. While she appeared in a mid-priced set, she was exclusive to a specific wave and is the primary antagonist, making her highly sought after post-retirement.
Head
Unique molded Serpentine head in 'Pearl Copper.' It features a wide cobra hood with transluscent orange 'Forbidden Spinjitzu' energy radiating from the edges. The face is sculpted with a fierce reptilian expression and open fanged mouth.
Torso
Tan base with high-detail printing of tattered mummy-style wrappings. It includes Dark Orange and Yellow accents representing 'Forbidden Spinjitzu' fire through the cracks. The arms are Tan with Dark Brown hands.
Legs
Standard Tan legs with detailed printing of bandage wrappings and fiery orange cracks. The pattern is continuous from the torso to maintain the character's 'mummified' appearance.
Accessories
In the image, she is shown with her unique Pearl Copper dual-snake shoulder armor (piece 51266). Her full official set-up includes a Scroll of Forbidden Spinjitzu and a long brick-built snake tail (though she is displayed here on a standard leg assembly).
Color Scheme
Primary colors are Tan and Pearl Copper. Accent colors include Trans-Orange (flame essence), Reddish Brown, and Yellow.
Printing Details
High-quality 360-degree aesthetic. The printing mimics tattered ancient cloth. The alignment from torso to hips is critical on this figure due to the bandage lines; the printing on this specific specimen appears well-aligned.
Variants
njo541 is the version with legs. Variant njo542 is the version with the long, brick-built Serpentine tail assembly used in set 70677 (Land Bounty).
Condition Notes
Common wear points include the thin clips on the shoulder armor and the friction of the headpiece. Pearl Copper plastic can show swirl marks from the molding process; these are not scratches but a natural result of the metallic plastic.
Estimated Value
Current market value for a used complete figure ranges from $12.00 to $18.00 USD. New/Mint condition can reach $25.00+ due to the vulnerability of the pearl-coated parts.
Price (New)
She appeared in set 70674 (Fire Fang) which retailed for $39.99, and set 70677 (Land Bounty) for $129.99.
Compatible Sets
70674 Fire Fang, 70677 Land Bounty.
Character Background
Aspheera is an ancient Serpentine sorceress and the main antagonist of the Fire Chapter. She was imprisoned for centuries after betraying a young Wu and Garmadon, only to be released to steal Kai's powers and seek revenge on the 'Treacherous Deceiver' (Wu).
Design Notes
The dual-molded head (solid plastic + trans-plastic) is a technical marvel of the 2019 era, designed to show the 'Forbidden Spinjitzu' power glowing through her scales.
Similar Minifigures
Pythor P. Chumsworth (njo047), Char (njo532), and General Kozu (njo083).
Collectibility
High. Antagonists from the 'Forbidden Spinjitzu' era are popular because their designs are visually distinct from the earlier, more organic Serpentine tribes.
History
Following the success of the original 2012 Serpentine, Aspheera represented a return to snake-themed villains but with an 'undead/elemental' aesthetic shift that defined the middle-era of Ninjago.
Interesting Facts
Aspheera is one of the few female Serpentine leaders in the series lore. Her name is a play on 'Asis' (serpent) or 'Asp'.
Display Suggestions
Display alongside the Fire Fang (70674) cobra build. Use backlighting to make the trans-orange parts of her head and armor 'glow' as if she is using her fire magic.
Modification Potential
The shoulder armor is highly compatible with other Serpentine figures and custom 'Ancient Egyptian' style MOCs. The tan mummy-print legs/torso are frequently used for custom Pharaoh or Undead figures.
Overall Assessment
A top-tier Ninjago villain figure. The combination of the unique large-scale head mold and the metallic armor makes her a standout piece in any collection. Desirability: 9/10.
