Theme

Ultra Agents

Year Released

2015. Released primarily in set 70170 'Ultra Agents Ocean HQ'. This was during a period when LEGO was experimenting with app-integrated themes and digital play interaction.

Rarity

Uncommon to Rare. While not a limited edition, this character appeared in the theme's flagship (most expensive) set, limiting its circulation compared to grunts. The theme was also short-lived, with a niche following.

Head

Transparent Neon Green head with a black skull and circuitry-style face print. It features a Trans-Neon Green visor/helmet piece that integrates with the specialized chest armor.

Torso

Dark Stone Grey with Lime Green arms and Black hands. The torso features intricate silver and lime green electronic circuit patterns and a central glowing power core print.

Legs

Dark Stone Grey with detailed prints on the front of the hips and legs. Printing includes mechanical knees, silver armor plating, and a red warning logo on the left thigh.

Accessories

Includes a specialized Dark Stone Grey armor piece with a built-in breathing apparatus/supply tube that connects to the helmet. Often equipped with a staff or energy-based weapon made of Trans-Neon Green components.

Color Scheme

Primary: Dark Stone Grey. Accents: Lime Green, Trans-Neon Green, and Black. This 'toxic' or 'radioactive' palette is iconic to the villainous faction of the Ultra Agents theme.

Printing Details

Extremely high detail for its time, featuring 360-degree printing on the torso and extensive leg detail. The use of Trans-Neon Green plastics in the head and armor creates a glowing effect under UV light.

Variants

Antimatter has two main forms; this is the armored version found in the Ocean HQ. A slightly different 'shadow' version with a cape appears in set 70163.

Condition Notes

The Dark Stone Grey plastic is resilient, but the silver printing on the legs and torso is prone to scratching. The neck connection point for the heavy armor can sometimes lead to torso cracks if handled roughly.

Estimated Value

Used: $15.00 - $25.00 USD. New: $35.00+ USD. Prices have trended upward as Ultra Agents becomes a 'cult classic' theme for MOC builders.

Price (New)

Contained in set 70170 which retailed for $99.99 USD in 2015. It was not available as an individual purchase.

Compatible Sets

70170 Ultra Agents Ocean HQ (2015).

Character Background

The primary antagonist of the Ultra Agents series, Antimatter is a powerful being capable of corrupting people and technology. He leads a gang of super-villains to take over Astor City.

Design Notes

The integration of the head/helmet/armor piece was a precursor to more complex armor designs seen in Nexo Knights. The translucent head was a bold design choice to represent his energy-based form.

Similar Minifigures

Terabyte (uagt004), Toxikita (uagt001), or Nexo Knights villains like Jestro.

Collectibility

High for collectors of 'Villain' figures and fans of the Ultra Agents aesthetic. Its unique colors make it a favorite for sci-fi and cyberpunk diorama builders.

History

Ultra Agents was LEGO's successor to the 'Agents' theme from 2008. Antimatter was the culminating villain of the first full year of the rebooted line.

Interesting Facts

The 'App-Brick' technology included in these sets allowed the figure to interact with a tablet game, though the app is no longer officially supported on modern operating systems.

Display Suggestions

Best displayed under a blacklight (UV) to make the Trans-Neon Green head and visor pop. Pairs perfectly with the Ultra Agent Solomon Blaze or Jack Fury figures.

Modification Potential

The Lime Green arms and Trans-Neon head are highly sought after by 'Bionicle-style' system builders and those creating custom radioactive or zombie-themed minifigures.

Overall Assessment

A standout figure from a underrated theme. Its unique head mold and striking color palette make it one of the best villain designs LEGO produced in the mid-2010s.
