Year Released

2010. Debuted in Set 5971 Gold Heist. This era marked a shift towards more character-driven, narrative space themes with unique alien molds.

Rarity

Uncommon. He appeared in only two sets within a relatively short-lived theme. While not 'rare' in the sense of a limited edition, his set-exclusive head mold makes him harder to replace.

Head

Unique Lime Green alien head mold. It features large black bulbous eyes, a massive underbite with four white teeth/tusks, and a pink brain/sac detail on the top crown of the head.

Torso

Black torso with detailed space armor printing. Features silver/graphite metallic highlights, lime green 'ribbed' center panels, and Magenta/Bright Pink quilted side panels. Back printing continues the armor motif.

Legs

Standard Black legs with Magenta and Silver metallic printing that matches the torso armor. Features pink ventilation-style rectangles on the thighs and knees.

Accessories

As shown, the figure is missing some original accessories. Originally came with a Silver Space Police-style blaster or a gold piece representing 'loot' depending on the set.

Color Scheme

A striking neon palette: Black base with Lime Green, Magenta (Bright Pink), and Metallic Silver accents. Very evocative of late 2000s/early 2010s sci-fi design.

Printing Details

High-quality pad printing. The metallic silver ink is particularly crisp. The printer alignment between the torso and hips is usually very precise for this era.

Variants

There are no official variants of Jawson himself, but he shares a design language with other Space Police III villains like Kranxx and Snake.

Condition Notes

The Lime Green hands are prone to cracking at the wrists. The Magenta printing on the legs can wear off with friction. The unique head mold should be checked for paint scuffing on the teeth.

Estimated Value

Used: $5 - $9; New/In-Set: $12 - $18. Values have remained stable as Space Police III has a dedicated niche following.

Price (New)

N/A (Individual figure retail). Appeared in Set 5971 ($19.99) and Set 5972 ($29.99).

Compatible Sets

5971 Gold Heist (2010), 5972 Container Heist (2010).

Character Background

Jawson is a criminal alien from the Space Police III lore. Known for his powerful jaws and brute-force crimes, he is often depicted stealing gold or hijacking space containers.

Design Notes

The head is a one-piece specialty mold. It is notable for not allowing any headgear (hats/helmets) due to the large jaw and brain detail, making the figure very distinct.

Similar Minifigures

Kranxx (sp096), Snake (sp097), and Rench (sp118). Shares the 'galactic criminal' aesthetic with these characters.

Collectibility

Medium. Highly desirable for collectors completing the 'Most Wanted' roster of the Space Police III line, which featured a gallery of unique alien heads.

History

Space Police III (2009-2010) was the first time LEGO leaned heavily into 'character' aliens rather than generic ones, leading to many unique one-off molds like Jawson's.

Interesting Facts

Despite his large jaw, the mold is surprisingly lightweight. His name is a pun on 'Jaws', reflecting his shark-like underbite.

Display Suggestions

Best displayed with the Gold Heist spaceship or in a custom 'Space Jail' diorama with other Space Police criminals. UV protection is recommended for the Lime Green parts.

Modification Potential

The head is too specific for most purist customs, but the torso and legs are excellent for 'Cyberpunk' or 'Techno' themed custom sci-fi figures.

Overall Assessment

A classic example of LEGO's creative peak in the 'Big Figure/Unique Mold' era of Space. He is a visually loud, fun antagonist with high-quality printing.
