Figure ID

Theme
Marvel Super Heroes
Year Released
2012 (First LEGO X-Men release wave)
Rarity
Uncommon to Rare. While it was in a retail set, it was discontinued rapidly and the X-Men license was underutilized by LEGO for a decade following this release.
Head
Light Flesh dual-sided head. One side features a teeth-baring snarl with stubble; the other is a neutral/angry look. It includes the unique large black point-tipped hair piece designed specifically for Wolverine.
Torso
Bright Light Orange torso with black 'tiger stripe' patterns. Yellow arms and blue hands representing gloves. Includes detailed muscle printing and a metallic silver belt with the red X-Men logo buckle.
Legs
Bright Light Orange legs with black 'tiger stripe' hip and side-front printing. No foot printing.
Accessories
Typically comes with two metallic silver claw pieces (part 98347). Note: The claws are missing in the provided image.
Color Scheme
Bright Light Orange (often mistaken for yellow), Blue, Black, and Light Flesh. This is based on the 1990s 'Jim Lee' era X-Men costume.
Printing Details
High-quality pad printing on the torso front and back. The alignment of the black stripes from the torso to the hips is a key indicator of authenticity.
Variants
This specific variant (sh017) is the maskless version. A masked version (sh052) was released in 2014 with a different costume pattern and cowl. A tan/brown version (sh118) was released later in 2014.
Condition Notes
The blue hands are prone to cracking at the wrists. The hair piece has sharp points that can show 'whitening' or stress marks if dropped/played with heavily. Check for torso side-cracks.
Estimated Value
Used (Complete with claws): $25-$40. Used (Incomplete/Missing claws as shown): $18-$25. New/Mint: $50+.
Price (New)
Originally released in set 6866 (Wolverine's Chopper Showdown) which retailed for $19.99 USD in 2012.
Compatible Sets
6866 Wolverine's Chopper Showdown (2012).
Character Background
Logan, better known as Wolverine, is a mutant with regenerative healing, animal-like senses, and adamantium-coated claws. He is a primary member of the X-Men and one of Marvel's most popular characters.
Design Notes
This was the very first Wolverine minifigure ever produced. The hair mold was a brand-new element at the time, capturing his iconic comic-book silhouette perfectly without a mask.
Similar Minifigures
sh052 (Masked Wolverine), sh118 (Brown Suit Wolverine), sh717 (Mech Suit Wolverine), and the 2024 CMF Wolverine (colmar-12).
Collectibility
High. Anything related to the classic 90s X-Men line is seeing a massive surge due to 'X-Men 97' media and the lack of X-Men sets between 2014 and 2021.
History
Debuted in 2012 alongside Magneto and Deadpool. This marked the beginning of official Marvel/LEGO collaboration beyond just Spider-Man or Movie-only licenses.
Interesting Facts
The set this figure came in (6866) also contained the only official LEGO Deadpool for over a decade, making the entire set highly sought after regardless of the build.
Display Suggestions
Display alongside the 2012 Magneto and Deadpool to complete the 'Chopper Showdown' trio. Use a clear 1x2 plate to help him stand if displaying with heavy claws attached.
Modification Potential
The head and hair are frequently used for 'Logan' civilan MOCs using flannel torsos from the LEGO City or Hidden Side lines.
Overall Assessment
A foundational piece of any Marvel collection. Despite newer versions having better leg printing (dual-molding), this 2012 version remains the 'classic' standard for maskless Logan. Rating: 8.5/10.
