Figure ID

Theme

Power Miners

Year Released

2010. Released as part of the final wave of Power Miners, which transitioned from the green/blue crystal theme to the red/orange lava theme.

Rarity

Uncommon. While not a limited promotional item, it was only available in two sets released at the end of the theme's lifespan, making it harder to find than the common rock monsters.

Head

Standard yellow head with a unique cyclops monster print. Features one large central eye, black spots on the forehead, and a mouth filled with sharp white fangs and a yellow monster snarl.

Torso

Black torso with intricate 'lava crack' printing. The design features bright orange and yellow glowing veins mimicking tectonic cracks on a volcanic surface. Back is also printed with continuation of the lava pattern.

Legs

Black legs with magma/lava crack printing on the front of the hips and legs. Feet area features printed orange monster toes/claws.

Accessories

The figure pictured is seen with a Black Mid-Length Messy Hair piece (resembling the 'mop top' style). In its original set, it was often equipped with fire-themed tools or appeared inside larger brick-built monsters.

Color Scheme

Primarily black with bright 'trans-neon orange' and yellow highlights for the lava effect. The head provides a high-contrast yellow focal point.

Printing Details

High-quality pad printing on the head, torso, and legs. The registration of the orange-on-black is particularly crisp for a 2010-era figure, creating a convincing glowing effect.

Variants

None of this specific print, although there were several different monster types in Power Miners (Firox, Meltrox, etc.) with different facial expressions and colors.

Condition Notes

Common wear points include 'arm cracks' on the black torso and fading of the yellow head printing if stored in sunlight. The black legs show scratches easily.

Estimated Value

Used complete: $8.00 - $12.00 USD. New: $15.00+ USD. Prices are currently rising due to nostalgia for the Power Miners theme.

Price (New)

Originally released in sets ranging from $19.99 (8123) to $69.99 (8126).

Compatible Sets

8123 Ash Attack, 8126 Lava Razing Drill.

Character Background

Infernox is a semi-sentient lava monster inhabiting 'The Core' of the Earth. In the Power Miners lore, these monsters were angered when the miners began drilling into the magma layers.

Design Notes

This figure was notable for being one of the first times LEGO used a standard minifigure body to represent a creature that had previously been a large-molded component (like the larger rock monsters).

Similar Minifigures

Combustix (pm006), Magma Monster (pm021), and various Rock Monsters from the earlier 2009 Power Miners waves.

Collectibility

High. LEGO fans from the late 2000s view Power Miners as a 'cult classic' theme. Any of the magma-series figures are highly sought after by completionists.

History

Followed the success of the 2009 Rock Raiders spiritual successor. It marked the transition of the Power Miners theme toward the 'Magma Monsters' storyline before the theme was discontinued.

Interesting Facts

The face print is a recolor and slight modification of the Cyclops from the Minifigures Series 9, though actually released prior to that series becoming a staple.

Display Suggestions

Best displayed on a dark gray or volcanic rock baseplate. Looks excellent alongside the orange translucent crystals or the large orange Power Miners vehicles.

Modification Potential

Excellent for fantasy MOCs. The lava-print torso and legs are often used by 'purist' customizers to create demons, fire spirits, or characters like Ghost Rider.

Overall Assessment

A standout figure from a beloved era of LEGO 'in-house' themes. The printing is exceptional and the 'magma' aesthetic holds up very well compared to modern figures.
