Pyro Whipper

Figure ID

njo533

Theme

Ninjago

Year Released

2019 - Released alongside the Season 11 Fire Chapter wave of Ninjago sets.

Rarity

Uncommon. While part of a mass-produced wave, this specific Pyro Viper variant appeared in only three sets, making it slightly harder to army build than the basic infantry.

Head

The head is a specialized molded piece (Part 51268) featuring a long snake neck in reddish brown. It has orange 'lava' translucent highlights and gold/black printing for the eyes.

Torso

Tan torso with mummy-style bandage printing, leather straps, and flame motifs. Includes reddish brown arms and hands. The printing continues to the back with additional bandage and flame detail.

Legs

Tan legs with matching bandage and flame printing on the front. The printing includes tattered edge details to represent the 'Pyro' undead snake aesthetic.

Accessories

Equipped with Copper colored shoulder armor (Part 41637). Depending on the set, it usually carries a 'Scimitar with Stud' or a chain whip, though none are shown in the primary hand in the image.

Color Scheme

A mix of Tan, Reddish Brown, and Copper, accented by Bright Orange and Yellow 'fire' prints. The head features a dual-molded translucent orange effect.

Printing Details

High-quality pad printing on the torso and legs. The head piece features incredibly detailed molded scaling and printed snake eyes that are well-aligned with the plastic sculpt.

Variants

Similar to the Pyro Slayer (njo522) and Pyro Destroyer (njo541). The 'Whipper' is distinguished primarily by its armor configuration and specific head mold without the heavy helmet of the General.

Condition Notes

The dual-molded translucent plastic on the neck can be prone to hairline fractures if the head is clicked on too forcefully. Check for 'neck cracks' and silvering on the copper armor.

Estimated Value

New: $5.00 - $7.00 USD; Used: $3.50 - $5.00 USD. Prices are stable due to the popularity of snake-themed Ninjago antagonists.

Price (New)

Came in sets ranging from $19.99 (70672) to $79.99 (70674). As part of a set wave, the 'per figure' value at retail was approx. $4.00.

Compatible Sets

70672 Cole's Dirt Bike, 70674 Fire Fang, and 70675 Katana 4x4.

Character Background

Members of the Pyro Vipers, an army of Serpentine resurrected by the Sorceress Aspheera using the forbidden powers of the Scroll of Forbidden Spinjitzu.

Design Notes

This era of Ninjago design moved away from standard minifigure heads toward elaborate, large-scale molded Serpentine pieces that emphasize the character's height and monstrous nature.

Similar Minifigures

Pyro Slayer (njo522), Pyro Destroyer (njo541), and Char (njo542). It also shares aesthetic DNA with the earlier Vermillion snake warriors.

Collectibility

High for Ninjago fans. The Serpentine are historically the most collected sub-group of Ninjago villains, often sought after for 'army building' dioramas.

History

Follows the tradition of Ninjago snake tribes (Hypnobrai, Fangpyre, etc.), but represents the first time the snakes were given an 'undead/mummy' elemental fire twist.

Interesting Facts

The 'flaming' effect on the head piece is achieved through a 'trans-orange' dual-injection mold, meaning every figure's flame pattern is slightly unique where the colors bleed.

Display Suggestions

Best displayed on a tan or dark orange baseplate to simulate a desert/lava environment. Looks excellent when paired with the 70674 Fire Fang giant snake build.

Modification Potential

The head piece is highly sought after by fantasy MOC builders to create custom nagas, snake-demons, or dragon-kin characters.

Overall Assessment

A visually striking antagonist with a unique silhouette. The dual-molded head piece makes it a standout figure for its price point. Rating: 8/10 for design and playability.
