Year Released
2014 - Released as part of the 12th wave of blind-bagged figures, distinguishing itself from the classic 'Majisto' wizards of the 90s with modern printing techniques.
Rarity
Uncommon - While mass-produced in blind bags, it is now discontinued. It was one of the more popular figures in the series, making complete versions harder to find in secondary markets.
Head
Classic yellow minifigure head with black eyes and white pupils. Features a large, white, flowing beard piece (part 6132) that fits over the neck peg.
Torso
Sand Blue torso with dark blue and gold belt printing. Design includes gold stars and a moon emblem on the front. Arms are sand blue with yellow hands.
Legs
Sand Blue legs with detailed printing on the hips and thighs. Includes a dark blue belt continued from the torso, a green potion bottle, and a green pouch hanging from a gold chain.
Accessories
Includes a grey wizard hat (Sand Blue) with gold star and buckle printing, and a Flat Silver classic sword (Greatsword/Broadsword). Missing from this image is the wizard's translucent red 'energy shot' or magic spark piece.
Color Scheme
Primarily Sand Blue with accents of White (beard), Dark Blue, Gold, and Silver (sword).
Printing Details
High-quality pad printing on the 'pointy' hat (specifically the stars and buckle), torso front, and remarkably detailed printing on the leg assembly including metallic gold chains.
Variants
This is the standard Series 12 Wizard. He is often confused with the Series 13 'Evil Wizard' or the classic 1993 'Majisto', but the sand blue color and potion leg printing are unique to this version.
Condition Notes
The sand blue plastic is durable but the printing on the hat buckle is prone to rubbing off. The silver sword often shows 'bite marks' or chrome-wear if played with heavily.
Estimated Value
Used: $6.00 - $9.00 USD | New (Sealed Pack): $12.00 - $18.00 USD. Value is stable but highly dependent on the hat's print quality.
Price (New)
Original retail price was $3.99 USD per blind bag in 2014.
Compatible Sets
71007 LEGO Minifigures Series 12 (Random bag).
Character Background
A generic high-fantasy wizard character. Unlike Majisto, who was a mentor figure, this wizard is often depicted as an alchemist or traveler due to the potions and pouches printed on his legs.
Design Notes
This figure marked a significant design jump for LEGO wizards by adding printing to the hat. Previously, wizard hats were solid colors or required stickers.
Similar Minifigures
Majisto (Classic Castle), Series 13 Evil Wizard, Merlin (Disney CMF), and various Gandalf (Lord of the Rings) figures.
Collectibility
High for CMF completionists. It is considered the 'definitive' affordable modern wizard for Castle-themed MOCs.
History
Part of the first wave of CMFs to launch alongside 'The LEGO Movie' hype, though not directly featured in the film. It helped reinvigorate interest in the Castle sub-culture during a hiatus of the main theme.
Interesting Facts
The potion bottle printed on the leg is a direct nod to the classic LEGO potion/flask element. This was one of the first figures to show 'belt-to-leg' printing alignment consistency.
Display Suggestions
Looks best in a modular tavern or library setting. Due to the wide brim of the hat, he requires extra clearance in tiered display cases.
Modification Potential
Excellent for 'purist' customs. The legs are highly sought after for creating foresters, thieves, or herbalist characters in fantasy RPG settings.
Overall Assessment
9/10 for design. A masterclass in how much detail can be packed into a 'standard' character. A must-have for fantasy collectors.
