Figure ID

njo540

Theme

Ninjago

Year Released

2019 - Debuted in the 'Castle of the Forsaken Emperor' set (70678) during the 'Ice Chapter' wave.

Rarity

Uncommon to Rare. While she appeared in a retail set, she was exclusive to the flagship Castle of the Forsaken Emperor set, and her unique molds make her highly sought after.

Head

Dual-printed head with a fierce expression and glowing blue eyes. It is topped by a unique, dark blue molded headpiece representing a wolf mask with pointed ears and light blue highlights around the eyes and snout.

Torso

Dark blue torso with purple and light blue printing. Design features traditional robes, a wrap belt, and light blue lightning/energy patterns. The arms are solid dark blue with dark purple hands.

Legs

Dark blue legs with complex printing detailing a belt with a silver buckle, purple robe layering, and silver/blue armor plating near the feet. The hips match the dark blue base color.

Accessories

The figure originally comes with a silver katana and a specialized white wolf form (as a separate animal figure), though she often wears a dark blue armor/pauldrons piece integrated with her cowl.

Color Scheme

Primary colors are Dark Blue and Dark Purple, accented by Bright Light Blue (energy highlights) and Silver (armor details).

Printing Details

High-quality pad printing covering the front and back of the torso, as well as the front of the legs and hips. The printing utilizes silver metallic ink for the armor detailing and high-contrast blue for the 'Formling' energy.

Variants

This is the true minifigure form. Akita is also represented in the same set by a solid white wolf figure using a unique mold (part 53265pb01). There are no other physical minifigure variants of this character.

Condition Notes

The wolf-head cowl is the most vulnerable piece; check the 'ears' for paint rubbing or bite marks. The silver printing on the legs is prone to scratching if played with on rough surfaces.

Estimated Value

Used: $25 - $35 USD; New/Mint: $45 - $55 USD. Value has stayed high due to the popularity of the character and her unique mold parts.

Price (New)

Originally available in set 70678 for $99.99 USD. She was one of the exclusive figures driving the value of that set.

Compatible Sets

Set 70678: Castle of the Forsaken Emperor (2019).

Character Background

Akita is a Formling from the Never-Realm. She has the ability to transform into a three-tailed white wolf. She allied with Lloyd Garmadon to take down the Ice Emperor (Zane) and seek revenge for her people.

Design Notes

The wolf cowl is a masterpiece of Ninjago design, capturing the 'Secret of the Forbidden Spinjitzu' aesthetic. The use of light blue highlights mimics the glow of the Boreal ice magic found in that season.

Similar Minifigures

Kataru (njo544), Blizzard Samurai warriors, and Vex. In terms of animal-themed headgears, she is similar to characters from the Legends of Chima line.

Collectibility

High. She is a fan-favorite character with a high 'cool' factor due to the mask. Since she only appeared in one set that is now retired, her value has steadily appreciated.

History

Akita represents the transition of Ninjago into more mythical, realm-hopping stories. Her release marked a period where LEGO increased the complexity of 'cowl and hair combo' molds.

Interesting Facts

The 'wolf mask' she wears is actually her Formling skin. In the show, her wolf form has three tails, but the white wolf figure included in the set only has one standard tail due to mold limitations.

Display Suggestions

Display alongside Lloyd (FS version) or the Ice Emperor. Because of her 'Ice Realm' aesthetic, she looks best on a white or trans-blue tiled baseplate to simulate snow and ice.

Modification Potential

The head and cowl are frequently used by MOC builders to create custom fantasy races or 'Furry' archetype characters. The torso is excellent for custom dark-themed monks or ninjas.

Overall Assessment

9/10. An exceptional minifigure with a unique silhouette. She is a standout piece of the 2019 Ninjago lineup and a must-have for collectors of the 'Forbidden Spinjitzu' era.
