Ultron Sentries (Officer / Commander)

Figure ID

sh166

Theme

Marvel Super Heroes

Year Released

2015 - Debuted in the Avengers: Age of Ultron wave, specifically in set 76032 (The Avengers Quinjet City Chase).

Rarity

Uncommon via set exclusivity. While the standard Ultron Sentry (sh165) appeared in several sets, the sh166 variant with the torso crest was significantly less common.

Head

Metallic Silver with robotic features, light blue eyes, and an open-mouth grimace. It features black mechanical line-work and a unique circuit-board texture. It is a dual-sided head with a second robotic expression.

Torso

Dark Green with detailed lime green and metallic silver mechanical printing. It features a prominent orange-and-yellow 'Fox' or 'Animal-like' crest on the chest, signifying an officer rank. Arms are lime green, hands are black.

Legs

Dark Green with matching lime green mechanical printing on the hips and the front of the legs. The printing depicts robotic plating and wiring.

Accessories

Missing in image. Originally came with transparent light blue power blasts or stud shooters and often a transparent light blue neck bracket with wings/appendages.

Color Scheme

A unique mix of Dark Green, Lime Green, and Metallic Silver with accents of Orange/Yellow for the crest. This differentiates the Ultron Sentries from the titular Ultron figures.

Printing Details

High-quality pad printing. The torso and legs feature intricate line-work that aligns well. The head print is sharp despite the metallic base plastic.

Variants

There are three primary variants: the basic Sentry (sh165), the Officer seen here (sh166), and the Sub-Ultron (sh170). The head and legs are shared across some, but the torso crest is unique to sh166.

Condition Notes

Common wear points include the metallic silver paint on the head which can scratch easily. Check for stress marks on the lime green arms and torso cracks under the armpits.

Estimated Value

Used Complete: $5.00 - $8.00 USD. New/Mint: $9.00 - $12.00 USD. Value is relatively stable but slowly rising as Age of Ultron sets age.

Price (New)

Set 76032 originally retailed for $79.99 USD in 2015. This figure was one of five included, making the individual value approximately $4.00 at launch.

Compatible Sets

76032 The Avengers Quinjet City Chase.

Character Background

Part of Ultron's hive-mind army from the 2015 MCU film 'Avengers: Age of Ultron'. Sentries were disposable drones controlled by Ultron to overwhelm the Avengers.

Design Notes

LEGO used a distinct green color palette for the movie's drones to differentiate them from the primary silver/grey Ultron Prime and Ultimate Ultron figures.

Similar Minifigures

Ultron Sentry (sh165), Sub-Ultron (sh170), Ultron Prime (sh175), Ultimate Ultron (sh176).

Collectibility

Moderate. It is a necessary figure for 'Army Builders' who want to recreate the Battle of Sokovia, though army units are generally less valuable than main characters.

History

Followed the 2012 Chitauri as the second major 'Army' in the Marvel Super Heroes line. This design reflects the transition to more detailed leg and back printing for drone characters.

Interesting Facts

The crest on the chest corresponds to the technical branding seen on the trucks/crates in the South Africa scenes of the film, which Ultron repurposed for his drones.

Display Suggestions

Best displayed in large groups on a grey or 'urban ruins' baseplate to mimic the Sokovia battle. Complement with Vision or Black Widow from the same set.

Modification Potential

Excellent for sci-fi or cyberpunk MOCs. The dark green/metallic silver parts are useful for custom robots or armored guards in non-superhero themes.

Overall Assessment

A solid, detailed grunt-level figure. While not a centerpiece, the sh166 variant is the most visually interesting of the mass-produced Sentries due to the chest crest.
