Year Released
2023. This minifigure debuted as part of the first wave of sets released for the sequel film 'Avatar: The Way of Water'.
Rarity
Uncommon. He is exclusive to a single mid-range retail set, making him harder to obtain than 'army builder' Na'vi but still accessible on the secondary market.
Head
Medium Azure Na'vi head with yellow eyes, dark blue bioluminescent patterns, and brown facial markings. It features pointed ears and a broader nose shape consistent with the reef people (Metkayina).
Torso
Medium Azure with dark red arms and Medium Azure hands. The printing depicts Metkayina chest armor/garment in tan, dark red scales, and yellowish-green accents. The back features further scale patterns and a connection point for the tail.
Legs
Specialized Na'vi long legs (longer than standard minifigure legs) in Medium Azure. Printed with a tan loincloth and dark blue horizontal stripe patterns (tribal markings/tattoos).
Accessories
Includes a Medium Azure flexible tail and usually comes with a light bluish-gray spear and a printed tan shield piece (though not pictured in the user image). The hair is a unique molded black textured piece with a 'queue' (neural link) at the back.
Color Scheme
Primary Medium Azure (skin tone) with accents of Dark Red (arms/chest), Tan (clothing/armor), and Black (hair). Yellow eyes provide a striking contrast.
Printing Details
High-quality pad printing including facial markings, bioluminescent dots, intricate chest armor textures, and wrap-around leg markings. The print alignment is generally excellent on these newer specialized parts.
Variants
There are no official variants of Tonowari at this time; he only appears in this specific configuration.
Condition Notes
The most common wear points are the long leg pins which can feel stiff or loose over time. Dark red arms are prone to stress marks at the shoulder joints. Check the flexible tail for splitting or bite marks.
Estimated Value
Used: $8.00 - $12.00 USD. New (extracted from set): $12.00 - $16.00 USD. Value is tied heavily to the popularity of the Avatar line.
Price (New)
He comes in set 75576 which originally retailed for $34.99 USD. Tonowari accounts for roughly a third of the figure value in that set.
Compatible Sets
75576 Skimwing Adventure (2023).
Character Background
Tonowari is the Olo'eyktan (leader) of the Metkayina clan on Pandora. He is the husband of Ronal and a key ally to Jake Sully in 'The Way of Water'.
Design Notes
Features the return of 'long legs' originally seen in Woody (Toy Story), used here to represent the height of the Na'vi. The head mold is specific to the Metkayina sub-species with slightly different proportions than the Forest Na'vi.
Similar Minifigures
Ronal (ava015), Jake Sully - Metkayina (ava014), and Neytiri (ava010).
Collectibility
High for completionists of the Avatar theme. While not as iconic as Jake or Neytiri, his status as a clan leader makes him essential for 'The Way of Water' displays.
History
Following the success of the 2009 film, LEGO launched the Avatar theme in late 2022/early 2023. Tonowari represents the second wave's focus on aquatic environments.
Interesting Facts
The 'long legs' makes this minifigure significantly taller than a standard LEGO figure, standing nearly 5 bricks high compared to the usual 4.
Display Suggestions
Display alongside the Skimwing creature or within an underwater reef diorama. Use transparent blue elements to simulate the Pandoran oceans.
Modification Potential
The long legs and torso are great for custom Na'vi OCs (Original Characters). The hairpiece is highly sought after for realistic hair textures in MOCs.
Overall Assessment
Excellent figure with unique molds and vibrant printing. A 9/10 for accuracy to the source material and a must-have for fans of the Avatar franchise.
