Luke Skywalker (Tatooine, Poncho)
sw1056 · Star Wars
A New Hope / 20th Anniversary · 2020

Figure ID
sw1056
Theme
Star Wars
Year Released
2020
Rarity
Uncommon. While only appearing in one retail set, the set was widely available for several years. The supply is steady, but the poncho component is often lost or frayed.
Head
Light Flesh double-sided head (Neutral and Scared expressions) with pupiled eyes and tan eyebrows. The hair piece is the modern 'shaggy' Luke mold in Tan (part 98383).
Torso
White torso with Tan tunic strap and 'v' neckline printing on both sides. Includes Light Flesh hands and White arms.
Legs
White legs with Light Tan printing depicting the straps and wrappings of Luke's desert boots. The printing extends from the hips to the mid-shin area.
Accessories
Includes an Olive Green cloth poncho with a black border (part 65330). Typically released with a blue lightsaber (chrome or trans-light blue) and macrobinoculars.
Color Scheme
Primary colors are White and Tan, accented by the Light Flesh skin tone and the Olive Green/Black of the poncho element.
Printing Details
High-quality pad printing on the torso and legs. The leg printing is particularly detailed, representing the specific 'A New Hope' costume more accurately than early 2000s versions.
Variants
This is a distinct upgrade from the earlier sw0735 (2016) which lacked the leg printing and the poncho. Other Tatooine Lukes vary by hair mold and face printing style.
Condition Notes
The poncho is made of a stiffened fabric that can fray at the edges or crease permanently if bent. Check the white legs for 'bite marks' or discoloration, and ensure the hair piece hasn't suffered from paint transfer.
Estimated Value
Used Complete: $7 - $12; New/Mint: $15 - $22; Figure without Poncho: $4 - $6.
Price (New)
$29.99 (Retail price of set 75270 - Obi-Wan's Hut).
Compatible Sets
75270 Obi-Wan's Hut (2020).
Character Background
Luke Skywalker as he appears on Tatooine during the first half of Star Wars: A New Hope. The poncho is worn specifically during the search for R2-D2 and the encounter with the Tusken Raiders.
Design Notes
The addition of the cloth poncho was a major selling point, as it allowed fans to recreate the 'Landspeder' or 'Wilderness' scenes more accurately than previously possible.
Similar Minifigures
sw0735 (Luke in Tatooine outfit, no poncho), sw1086 (Luke from 75271), and sw0551 (Luke from Cantina).
Collectibility
High for completionists. Every Star Wars collection needs a definitive 'Farmboy Luke', and the inclusion of the unique poncho makes this the preferred version for many.
History
Luke's Tatooine outfit is the most-produced variant of the character. This 2020 version represents the pinnacle of 'system' scale detail for this specific costume before minor tweaks in later years.
Interesting Facts
Despite Luke wearing this poncho in several famous scenes, it took LEGO 21 years of the Star Wars license to produce a minifigure-scale cloth version of it.
Display Suggestions
Ideal for dioramas of Obi-Wan's Hut, the Sandspeeder, or Mos Eisley. Best displayed on a tan/sand baseplate with R2-D2 and C-3PO.
Modification Potential
The poncho is a highly sought-after part for MOC (My Own Creation) builders looking to create custom desert characters or post-apocalyptic survivors.
Overall Assessment
A fantastic, film-accurate minifigure. The leg printing and specialized cloth accessory elevate it above standard 'pack-in' figures. A must-have for Episode IV fans.
