Rarity
Rare. This sub-theme only existed for roughly two years (1992-1993), making authentic Wolfpack figures highly sought after by vintage collectors.
Head
Classic yellow head with a black-and-grey stubble/beard print, standard 'smiley' eyes, and a confident smirk. The headgear is a dark brown hood piece (30381).
Torso
Dark brown torso with the iconic white wolf head inside a grey shield with a red border. Features a printed belt with pouches and a buckle. Arms are black; hands are yellow.
Legs
Plain dark grey legs. This is the standard configuration for the renegade class within the Wolfpack sub-theme.
Accessories
Equipped with a flat silver (or chrome silver in some versions) longsword. The hood is the primary cowl attachment for this character class.
Color Scheme
A rugged palette of dark brown, black, and dark grey, accented by the white, red, and black wolf emblem. This reflects the 'bandit' or 'outlaw' nature of the faction.
Printing Details
Pad-printed emblem on the torso. The level of detail on the wolf logo was high for the early 90s. The head print is limited to the front face only.
Variants
There are minor variations in the grey shade of the legs (Light Gray vs. Dark Gray) depending on the set year, and some versions omit the brown hood in favor of a black pointed hat (cas002).
Condition Notes
Prone to 'torso cracks' on the sides under the armpits. The silver coating on the sword frequently flakes off. Look for fading on the white wolf print which can yellow over decades.
Estimated Value
Used: $35.00 - $55.00 | New/Mint: $80.00+. Value fluctuates based on the crispness of the torso emblem and sword condition.
Price (New)
Originally included in sets ranging from $10.00 (Wolfpack Renegade) to $40.00 (Wolfpack Tower) in the early 1990s.
Compatible Sets
6075 Wolfpack Tower (1992), 6038 Wolfpack Renegade (1992), and 1596 Ghostly Hideout (1993).
Character Background
The Wolfpack was a faction of outlaws or forest bandits in the LEGO Castle universe, often portrayed as rivals to the Black Knights and Forestmen.
Design Notes
One of the first 'gritty' factions in Castle. The stubble print was a significant departure from the clean-shaven faces of the 1980s Lion Knights.
Similar Minifigures
Wolfpack Tower Guard (cas002), Forestman with brown hat, and the 2024 updated Wolfpack member from the LEGO Icons Medieval Town Square (10332).
Collectibility
High. The Wolfpack logo is considered one of the most iconic in LEGO history. Nostalgia for this specific era of Castle is currently driving prices upward.
History
Launched in 1992 to provide a 'rogue' element to the Castle line. The sub-theme was short-lived but remains a fan favorite, recently receiving homages in modern sets.
Interesting Facts
The Wolfpack emblem was so popular it has been reused on stickers and flags in various MOC-inspired sets and was recently revived in the 'Pick-a-Brick' service and modern UCS-style sets.
Display Suggestions
Best displayed in a woodland or ruins-themed vignette. Use a 2x4 dark tan base to mimic dirt and place him next to a wagon or camp fire.
Modification Potential
Excellent for 'The Witcher' or 'Lord of the Rings' MOCs. The torso is a staple for custom ranger or rogue-class characters.
Overall Assessment
An essential piece for any serious LEGO Castle collector. It represents a peak era of 90s design where factions began to have more distinct 'personalities'.
