gal004 · Galaxy Squad
Purple Team / Alien Wave 1 · 2013 (Released in January as part of the first Galaxy Squad wave)

Figure ID
gal004
Theme
Galaxy Squad
Year Released
2013 (Released in January as part of the first Galaxy Squad wave)
Rarity
Uncommon. While only appearing in one set, Galaxy Squad was a moderately produced line that didn't reach the mass-saturation levels of City or Star Wars.
Head
Missing in image. Originally: Trans-Neon Orange with a detailed black/silver alien mosquito-like print (Part 3626cpb0918).
Torso
Black with Yellow arms and hands. Features pink/magenta and light bluish gray alien armor printing. The print includes a circular core emblem on the chest and bug-like abdominal plating.
Legs
Plain Black legs. No printing (Part 970c00).
Accessories
None shown. Originally came with a lime green 'Alien Buggoid' cocoon or a small jetpack assembly depending on the set play-feature context.
Color Scheme
Black, Yellow, Magenta/Pink, and Light Bluish Gray. This is the signature color palette of the Galaxy Squad Alien antagonist faction.
Printing Details
High-quality pad printing on the front of the torso. The alignment of the magenta highlights against the black base is sharp. No back printing was standard for some grunt-level aliens in this line.
Variants
There are several similar Alien Buggoids in the theme, but this specific torso/arm/head combination defines Antap. Other aliens used Lime or Dark Red color schemes.
Condition Notes
Cracking under the arms is common for this era of torso. The yellow hands are prone to teeth marks. The black legs show scratches easily in bright light.
Estimated Value
$3.00 - $5.00 USD (Complete). Figure as shown (incomplete) is valued at approximately $1.00 - $1.50 USD for the torso and legs.
Price (New)
Included in set 70702 (Warp Stinger) which retailed for $29.99 USD in 2013.
Compatible Sets
70702 Warp Stinger.
Character Background
Antap is an Alien Buggoid, part of the insectoid hive intent on cocooning the Galaxy Squad heroes. He serves as a pilot/warrior for the Warp Stinger vehicle.
Design Notes
The yellow arms on a black torso are intended to mimic the biological warnings of real-world stinging insects like wasps or hornets.
Similar Minifigures
Mosquitooid (gal001), Alien Buggoid - Lime (gal011), and various Galaxy Squad heroes like Chuck Stonebreaker.
Collectibility
Moderate. Galaxy Squad has a dedicated cult following from 'AFOLs' (Adult Fans of LEGO) who enjoy original Space themes, but it is not a top-tier investment theme.
History
Galaxy Squad was the successor to Alien Conquest, moving from a 50s B-movie vibe to a more tactical, techno-organic 'Starship Troopers' aesthetic.
Interesting Facts
The 'Pink Team' aliens were often paired against the 'Orange' Galaxy Squad team. The headpiece used for this figure is often used by MOC builders for radioactive or biohazard scenes.
Display Suggestions
Best displayed with other Galaxy Squad aliens or inside the cockpit of the 70702 Warp Stinger. UV-protected cases are recommended to prevent the Magenta ink from fading.
Modification Potential
Excellent for cyberpunk MOCs. The torso print is generic enough to be used as futuristic mercenary armor if the head is swapped for a human one.
Overall Assessment
A solid example of LEGO's creative 2010s-era original IP. While this specific unit is incomplete, the torso remains a striking piece of graphic design with a unique color combination.
