Year Released

2017: Released as part of the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 wave, coinciding with the film's theatrical debut.

Rarity

Uncommon to Rare: This version was exclusive to a single, medium-priced set (76079), making it harder to find than mass-release heroes but common enough for dedicated Marvel collectors.

Head

Light flesh tone with black eyes and high-detail character makeup/markings; dual-sided print with a smiling and neutral/displeased expression. The hair is a unique soft-plastic mold in black with integrated tan/beige antennae.

Torso

Dark green base with detailed lime green and teal highlights representing her uniform. Back printing is present, matching the ribbing and suit patterns. Features light flesh arms and black hands.

Legs

Plain black legs (unprinted). This is a common point of criticism for this specific figure variant as it lacks the boot detailing seen in the film.

Accessories

Typically does not come with handheld accessories or weapons, as the character relies on empathic touch; however, the set she appeared in included small trans-clear power elements.

Color Scheme

A palette of dark green, lime, teal, and black. Her antenna are a distinct tan/beige color molded into the hairpiece.

Printing Details

High precision pad printing on the torso front and back. The facial printing is unique and specific to the actress Pom Klementieff's likeness in the MCU.

Variants

There are several variants: sh385 (2017 - Original, shown here), sh740 (MCU Guardians 2 - slight variation), sh848 (Holiday Special), and sh877 (Vol. 3 version with updated suit and printing).

Condition Notes

The soft plastic antennae can attract dust and are prone to bending or chewing if not stored properly. Check for torso cracks (typical for dark green) and arm joint stiffness.

Character Background

Mantis is an empathic alien who first appeared as the companion to Ego the Living Planet. She eventually joins the Guardians of the Galaxy and becomes a core member of the team.

Design Notes

The hairpiece is the standout element; it is an over-molded piece that combines the black hair with the flexible antennae, a technique LEGO refined in the mid-2010s.

Similar Minifigures

Nebula (sh384), Gamora (sh386), and other members of the MCU Guardians lineup.

Collectibility

High for Marvel completionists. She is a core MCU character, and the 2017 version remains a fan favorite because of its distinct green color scheme compared to later dark-blue suit variants.

History

This was the first-ever Mantis minifigure produced by LEGO, filling a major roster gap for the Guardians of the Galaxy team.

Interesting Facts

Despite her antennae being a vital part of her character, they are physically molded into the hair part, meaning you cannot lose them individually as you might with a Jedi's lightsaber.

Display Suggestions

Display alongside Star-Lord, Rocket, and Groot on a Milano or Benatar ship build. A dark background highlights the teal and green printing on her torso.

Modification Potential

Collectors often swap the plain black legs for printed legs from other figures (like Black Widow or generic space-themed legs) to increase the level of detail.

Overall Assessment

A solid 8/10 figure. It captures her unique look perfectly, though the lack of leg printing prevents it from being a masterpiece. It is an essential piece for any Marvel collector.
